Arctic Monkeys Win Best Pop Prize Award
Arctic Monkeys have been honoured with the Best Pop prize at the British South Bank Show Awards in London.
The British rockers won the top music prize for their latest album 'Favourite Worst Nightmare' at a ceremony last night, following in the footsteps of previous winners like Blur and English singer/songwriter Richard Hawley.The Best Classical Music prize went to 'Traced Overhead: The Musical World of Thomas Ades', while the Best Opera gong was awarded to Benhamin Britten's 'The Turn of The Screw' - an opera based on the novella of the same name by Henry James.
Meanwhile, the BAFTA-nominated movie 'Atonement' took home the Best Film award, London theatre show 'Saint Joan' picked up the Best Theatre prize, and Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling was presented with the Outstanding Achievement award for the worldwide success of the boy wizard books and movie franchise.
