New single – ‘Day Too Soon’ released November 19th 2007, New album – ‘some people have REAL problems’ released January 2008

Sia returns on November 5th 2007 with a stunning new single entitled ‘Day Too Soon’. The track is taken from her eagerly anticipated forthcoming album ‘some people have REAL problems’. The single and album showcases a unique artist recognised by those in the know as one of the most talented singers and songwriters of recent years. A few musical friends help on the record including Beck who features on ‘Academia’, and tracks co-written with members of Turin Brakes, and it is produced by Jimmy Hogarth who recently worked with Corinne Bailey Rae, James Morrison, James Blunt and Amy Winehouse.

You may not be aware of it but the chances are you already know Sia’s music. If you listen to Zero 7’s Mercury Award nominated ‘Simple Things’, Sia’s vocals feature on the title track ‘When It Falls’ and also Grammy nominated ‘The Garden’. If you caught the final episode of ‘Six Feet Under’, that was her song ‘Breathe Me’ playing over the final five minutes of the show, and if you are an avid YouTube surfer, you may well have seen the viral video for her track ‘Buttons’ from the forthcoming album. Picked up by celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, the clip became the most linked music video and second most watched music video on the site. Placed in the Top 10 Music Videos and the Top 40 of all videos on site, ‘Buttons’ has become such a phenomenon that users are now posting their own versions.

Sia is an Australian émigré, now resident in Los Angeles but a one time London girl who started her already prodigious career at the age of nine with her dad’s band The Soda Jerx. Making the break with Australia for the UK found her not only collaborating with Zero 7 but also releasing two solo albums - ‘Healing Is Difficult’ (2002) and ‘Colour The Small One’ (2004). These releases earned critical acclaim with The Sunday Times praising “a voice that manages to be as big as a foghorn and as small as a whisper” whilst Esquire celebrated “a thing of rare beauty”.

‘Day Too Soon’ is the perfect introduction to those new to Sia, showcasing that voice in languid form in a gorgeous ballad that is a classic slice of melodic pop; a perfect taster for the release of ‘some people have REAL problems’.
