Marilyn Manson - Eat Me, Drink Me
Released: June 4, 2007
Label: InterscopeReviewed By: Daniel Black
Rating: 6/10
A subject of controversy for many years, the dark egotistic synonymy of the Devil on earth, “Marilyn Manson”, turns out album after album almost too painlessly – “Eat Me, Drink Me” is no anomaly. It falls in line with many of this devilish prat’s other releases and can be summed up in a few words; pessimistic, sinister yet fiery.
Further more the controversy is far from leaving Mr. Grim himself. Once again his satanic attention seeking ways have overcome him and he has landed himself in more trouble. This time “Heart Shaped Glasses” the centre of the storm when, according to national press, Manson chose to include scenes of obscene sex in the video, what is believed to be real sex.
Why Do It? It’s one of his very few songs that is any good so why detract from it’s brilliance with what can only be described as an uncalled for, offensive act of pornography? He’d probably be more popular without such a contentious approach to his music and career. I don’t understand him and probably never will.
Despite this the album is decent, even for an infernal lunatic.
