Damon Albarn Reveals Glastonbury Nightmare
Damon Albarn Soccer matches during the ongoing FIFA World Cup have been drowned out by the traditional African horns, with some commentators complaining the noise is far too loud. Sports fans have even started wearing protective headwear to mask the distinctive drone.
Despite this, Damon is a big fan of the vuvuzelas. He is due to headline the Glastonbury music festival in the UK with his band Gorillaz tonight, and hopes the crowd will all be tooting on their horns with gusto. “Imagine at school at the moment, it’s just noise anarchy for kids. I love the sound of it, I’ve got no problem with it at all,” he said.
Tonight’s performance will be the third time Damon has headlined the famous music event. He previously took to the stage with his band Blur, but says he is still nervous about getting the show right.
He always worried people won’t like the songs or will find the show dull, and has been having anxiety dreams for weeks.
“I actually woke up this morning because today I moved from what I’m doing, other stuff, back on to Gorillaz and thought, ‘Oh sh*t. Is anyone going to like this? Are our songs well enough known,’” he told British newspaper The Sun.
“All the same anxieties, the dreams are starting to come in of empty fields. I know what happens to me, and I don't know how to deal with it, but it doesn't mean it doesn't happen and I don't feel incredibly nervous.”
