Band will release a capella album in April.

The Futureheads' new album will feature special versions of the band's tracks and cover versions.

'Rant' will include a reworked version of Meet Me Half Way by Black Eyed Peas, Acapella by Kelis and covers of traditional folk songs.

Lead singer Ross Millard said: "If we're gonna carry on making music we needed to change it up.

"Making another Futureheads record as per usual wasn't something that appealed to us. We've always been a four-part harmony group; it's been a massive part of the genetics of this band."

The Futureheads have also announced a UK tour that will feature an entirely acoustic set from Rant. The tour will begin in Bristol on April 3 and finish at the Manchester Royal Northern College of Music on April 13.

Guitarist/singer Barry Hyde added: "A Futureheads fan who doesn’t get 'Rant' is not a Futureheads fan. This version of The Futureheads has always been there.

"We’re bringing to the fore what we’re really about: a unification, a gang mentality, which is in the balance between our voices and our personalities. And on 'Rant' we're pushing that right into your face."

Rant is released on April 2.
