Coldplay Excited About Album Release

By MusicRooms on 22/02/2010
Coldplay are “excited” about their forthcoming album, which they hope to release at Christmas.

The rock group are currently in the studio working on their fifth record, and are enjoying every second of it. They feel less pressured to release something that has broad appeal as they already have a solid fan base, and have revealed they hope to get it ready for the festive period this year.

“One thing success lets you do is have complete freedom over what you do in the studio. We are in there at the moment,” singer Chris Martin said. “We feel more excited about making music than ever because we know we have some audience, we know if we do something really good some people will really enjoy it. Hopefully the new record will be out this Christmas. Our CDs are really good, not all of them but some of them!”

Chris added the group aren’t worried about their new songs being leaked before the release date as they don’t think anyone will be able to get near them. He is amazed by the security measures in place at the studio, adding even he can’t get his hands on the songs.

“There are only two people in the whole building who know how to open all the recording files,” he said in an interview with Globo.com. “Even we don't know how to do it. We couldn't even steal our own music at the moment. You would have to be a computer genius and a great burglar to get into the building, and download it, and mix it.”

He added downloading music has had a big effect on the industry, not least as everyone needs to be so much more careful these days.

“On our second album Guy our bass player... we recorded the whole thing and he went home for the day on the train with the CD. And it said on the front, ‘Coldplay second album.’ He left it on the train and he didn’t tell us for six months. And all that time he was worried, only when it came out he went ‘Phew,’ ” Chris laughed.
