Coldplay performed two new tracks live for the very first time on US television last night.

The songs, Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall and Charlie Brown, were broadcast live on late-night talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live! from the British group’s sold-out Grammy Foundation gig at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) while also marking their US network TV debut.

Chris Martin, Will Champion, Jonny Buckland and Guy Berryman appeared live via a satellite link on the show, with host Jimmy explaining why the Viva la Vida hitmakers chose to air their new songs on his programme.

Jimmy said that, “for those of you who don’t know, Coldplay were the very first band to play on our show way back in January 2003”, before playfully adding that “they haven’t been heard of since!”

The impressively star-packed audience at the concert included actresses Kate Bosworth and Lindsay Lohan.

Meanwhile, Coldplay will tomorrow headline the Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago.
