Coldplay's Guy sings band's own songs in his spare time
Coldplay The smiling 33-year-old revealed his interesting passion during some interviews in Japan, where the London-based band performed at the Fuji Rock Festival, stating that he enjoys nothing more than grabbing a mic and singing Coldplay tracks when taking a day off.
A post on the massive group’s Roadie42 blog stated that “I watched as Guy was asked if he enjoyed karaoke”, adding that “I was a little confused when he replied enthusiastically in the affirmative”.
The roadie added: “‘Funny’, I thought, ‘He’s the one that’s never there when it’s a karaoke night’”, then continued by writing that “my suspicions of deception were confirmed when he was asked if he did karaoke at home in London (with) ‘almost every night’” being “the dubious reply”.
In the end, the interviewer “asked what kind of songs he likes to sing”, with the 33-year-old Scotsman replying: “‘Oh, just our stuff’ – the band duly collapse into giggles and the game is up.”
The Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall hitmakers headlined the Friday at Fuji Rock, finishing their show at night, with the inquisitive roadie pointing out that it was a “shame” Coldplay – which also includes singer Chris Martin, lead guitarist Jonny Buckland and drummer Will Champion – were unable to get to the festival earlier to enjoy the wonderful atmosphere.
He wrote: “A quick nip up on the bullet train saw us arriving just as it began to get dark. It’s a bit of a shame, really, to travel all this way to a show that has an astounding view of such a natural spectacle – only to arrive when it’s too dark to see it.”
He added that “it’s definitely a show where those bands on earlier in the day get a better deal”.
