Morrissey defends Norway comments, with no apology

By on 01/08/2011
The former Smiths singer has added comments to his original controversially statement about the Norway tragedy.

The Smiths former frontman Morrissey has stood by his controversial comments about the Norway terror attacks,  but has not offered an apology.

Speaking on a gig in Warsaw last weekend, Morrissey said that the actions of Anders Breivik were “nothing” in comparison to KFC and McDonalds which led to widespread condemnation of his opinions.

Through a statement on True To You, he offered explanation behind his comments, talking of how millions of animals are massacred in the name of fast food every day.

“If you are horrified by the Norway killings, it naturally follows that you feel horror at the murder ANY innocent being.  You cannot ignore animal suffering simply because animals are not us.”

Users of NME’s website reacted with anger to the comparisons made by the singer, saying he was taking his hard-line vegan opinions too far.
