The Rolling Stones rocker has reportedly checked into a South London clinic to receive treatment for alcoholism.

Ronnie, 62, has battled the disease for years, with this being his eighth attempt to conquer his addiction.

Ronnie left his wife of 23 years, former model Jo Wood, for Russian waitress Ekaterina Ivanova in the summer of 2008. They split last year, following an argument in the street after which Ronnie was cautioned for assault. Ekaterina, 21, has since spoken publicly about the relationship, calling Ronnie an “evil goblin king” who became hard to handle when he drank. She admitted most of their affair was conducted through a haze of alcohol, adding Ronnie drank far more than she was able to.

Ronnie’s friends and family are said to have become increasingly worried about his behaviour in recent weeks, with his daughter Leah and bandmate Sir Mick Jagger the driving force behind his latest treatment.

“Mick has always been helpful and supportive of Ronnie when he gets in trouble and falls off the wagon,” a source told British newspaper The Daily Mail. “The news Ronnie's decided to go into rehab is really pleasing for Mick. He has always urged him to get help when he's had his problems - and this case was no different. Mick's just delighted he's taken heed and is trying to get himself straight.”

Ronnie has reportedly been struggling to cope with his split from Ekaterina. He drew attention when he went on a series of dates with pretty PR girl Hannah Kamelmacher, but she ended their fling after just three days. He has recently been spotted with a Brazilian woman in her 30s, although it is unknown if they are an item.

“Ronnie has been in a bad state of mind since his split with Katia,” another source told the publication. “They were in a terrible relationship, but since their break-up he has not been himself. He has been lonely and drinking and has tried to throw himself into new romances. Jo and the entire family are just happy that he is seeking help again.”
