Chris Martin debuts new song
Coldplay The Coldplay frontman performed new track Wedding Bells at the end of a press conference for the technology company’s latest products at the Yerba Buena Centre in San Francisco. Footage of the event was also streamed live to TV screens at The Brewery in east London.
Cheers broke out as Chris took to the stage to announce the track. The singer joked with the crowd, poking fun at Apple’s constantly evolving products, before sitting down at the piano to perform the ballad.
"This is a new song called Coldplay 2.6 and it has a lot of new features, it features seven different kinds of chords and even a new one that our closest rivals have no idea about," Chris said. "This could be the only time you ever hear it. It could go terribly wrong but we'll see what happens."
Chris also performed at the beginning of the event, singing Coldplay’s hits Yellow and Vida La Vida. After the latter he paid tribute to Apple, thanking them for taking the track to the top of the charts in the US and UK.
"Our record company said this is not a hit single. But with the weight of Apple, they managed to turn it into a very successful single. So thank you,” Chris said.
