Iron Maiden have stormed to the top of the UK charts with their new album The Final Frontier.

The heavy metal group knocked rapper Eminem and his album Recovery from the top spot into second place with their new album – which is their 15th studio album in a career spanning 35 years.

It is also the band’s fourth number one album and features an 11-minute long track based on post-apocalyptic graphic novel When The Wind Blows by author Raymond Briggs.

Other new entries in the Top 40 were from The Hoosiers and The Saturdays.

Roll Deep took the top spot in the singles charts with their track Green Light.
