The star – who plays villainous Draco Malfoy in the popular wizard franchise - has landed a contract with indie label Six Strings Productions. He is believed to be a talented songwriter and can play the guitar as well as sing.

Announcing the deal on their Twitter page, Six String Productions wrote: "Tom Felton has signed and the album is very much on its way..."

Although Tom has been focusing on his acting career for the past decade, he has made no secret of his passion for music. The 22-year-old has previously spoken about his desire to pursue his dream of becoming a rock star. Now Tom is set to realise his musical ambitions as he begins works on an album.

"I'm a keen musician,” Tom said recently. “Me and my mates have a great time jamming and recording stuff.

"We have a great band behind us and have turned my nursery-rhyme songs into quite credible pieces of music. But you definitely won't see me on the broomstick with a guitar."

While Tom is keen to concentrate on his music, he still has several acting projects in the pipeline.

He has been linked to new movie Rise of the Apes, a prequel to Planet of the Apes, which will also star Freida Pinto and James Franco.
